As you are probably aware Google has a sitemap system to help websites get their pages catalogued.
Websites that have a compliant sitemap file will have an advantage with Google compared to sites that do not. In the future we believe many other search engines will use this system.
New websites that submit a compliant sitemap are included in the Google search results much faster than sites without a sitemap. Existing sites find that new and updated content gets into the Google system much quicker.
We don't want to get too techie but here is what needs to be done.
1. Create a file called sitemap.xml and place it in the root of your website. This file must be in the correct format or it will not work.
2. Submit the file to Google Sitemaps.
3. Edit the xml file whenever any content or pages are added or changed on your website.
4. Resubmit the file to Google Sitemaps.
5. Rinse and repeat.
If you want to do it yourself go to https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/about.html
Once you have made the sitemap and edited the xml file, don’t forget to resubmit it to Google within 24 hours of any modification – or every week!
ALTERNATIVELY - keep focussed on your business and let us do it all for you!
The investment required is just $190 setup and $190 per year plus gst. This means we will create a compliant sitemap and automatically update it every week for you then resubmit it to Google.
If your site needs daily attention we can customise a package for you.
