The
search engine relationship chart below will help you understand
the connections between one search engine to another. As you can
see most search engines use one another to create their search results.
To give you an example, if you were to sign up with Overture your
results would appear on AltaVista, Excite, Go2Net, InfoSpace, MSN, Sympatico.ca, AllTheWeb and Yahoo!
Our Search Engine Pricing page lists the costs associated with signing up to the major search
engines. You can always submit your site yourself or you can have
a look at our optimisation
packages and costs. Before you submit your own site make sure
it has been checked for HTML errors and optimised. Payment to most
of these search engines will not result in high rankings for your
site but will only provide inclusion in their listings. If you are
not on the first page of results this money is wasted.
The
Search Engines are in blue running down the page and the search
result providers are in red running across the page. There are four
types of results which can be provided to the search engines, they
are:
Main Results- indicates the search engine uses the provider
for primary search results
Backup Results - indicates the search engine uses the provider
for secondary or backup search results
Paid Results- indicates the search engine uses the provider
for its paid search results
Directory Results- indicates the search engine uses the provider
for its directory search results
(s) - indicates
the search engine uses a spider to index and rank websites.*
(h) - indicates
the search engine uses human editors to review and list websites.*
(p) - indicates
the search engine uses payment as basis for ranking positions.
* Your
website needs to be optimised as payment to these search engines
does not guaranty a high ranking. |
